We live next door and are always available by mobile phone or by knocking on our door should you have any questions or need anything. This is your vacation, so even though we are friendly and quite social ourselves, we will let you set the level of interaction after your arrival and introduction to the property. Basic cooking and dining equipment are on hand for eating in. In the carpeted sleeping loft, a few steps up a fold-down ladder, are a queen size mattress and a twin size mattress. The loft is not suitable for young children. Downstairs, a couch opens into a double bed or can become the platform for a queen airbed. Wifi and a lockup for mountain bikes are included.The studio is situated on 10 wooded acres 3 1/2 miles, about 12 minutes, from Nevada City on a well-maintained county road. There is a queen-size bed, a nnn double bed and double pull-out futon (in living room) to accommodate up to 4 people. It is best suited for up to 4 adults or a family of 4 or 5. This is a great place for the honeymoon couple or small family. If you are booking Papa Bear's Lodge for a larger event, this is the perfect place for overflow guests who want a little more privacy. Tara is a cozy, romantic and elegant cabin located in the Sierra Foothills at about 1800 feet elevation. It is 650 square feet of charm nestled into a pristine private sanctuary of 30 acres of pines, cedars, madrones, and oaks. Situated above Rock Creek, there are private swimming holes, waterfalls, and large granite flat rocks for sunbathing. This is a “too good to be true” place to get away from it all. You can hear the birds singing and water tumbling in the creek. A cathedral of trees caresses you as you sink into the solitude. SUMMER has arrived in the Gold Country. Daytime temps are warmer, 80's - 90's. Still comfortable night temps . So come on up! These are perfect days for exploring the town, hiking or walking around our beautiful area, and returning to cozy cabin comfort. Or just enjoy a slow and peaceful day at the cabin, lying in the sun all year round, sitting near and floating in the creek in warmer weather, (the water is perfection!) reading or napping. Evenings are sweet in the fading light of the day, perhaps enjoying a glass of wine on the deck or just being toasty next to the woodstove, followed by a soak in the hot tub overlooking the creek. The cabin is one room with wooden beam ceilings and wooden floors, surrounded by windows with green tree-filled views and creek frontage. There are only curtains on windows near bed, and all large windows are uncovered. There is unsurpassed beauty in all directions from windows and decks. The cabin has french doors that open onto multi-leveled decks in back overlooking the creek. There is a small camp at Lover's Pool in Summer, with chairs, floats, chaise lounges, and an umbrella. Bring your food, a towel, your reading material, and stay for hours in Heaven. Lover's Pool path to creek is steep in spots, with some steps, dropoff on one side, rope to hold across rocks. The swimming hole called The Baths is more easily accessed, but requires walking across granite rocks. Sturdy shoes are a must. ASK Property Manager about access, and difficulty factor. Our outbuilding called the Buddha Hut now sleeps 1 or 2 in Queen Bed. Located across the parking area, and just opposite the cabin, it is light and airy, a perfect, small sweet spot for extra friends. On the deck in warmer months are chairs and a sail for shade. Guests may use the Compost Toilet and sink located in Buddha Hut overnight, and use the cabin bathroom for general use. Buddha Hut may be rented in conjunction with the cabin, but not rented separately to another party at the same time. A great base for snow exploration, Tara is 1/2hr. from free snowshoeing and crosscountry skiing up Hwy. 20. It is 45minutes - 1 hour from downhill skiing and other snow fun at Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Boreal, and Royal Gorge. 4wheel drive is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED/ ESSENTIAL when coming to Tara in Winter months. Although the cabin is usually below snow level, when it's storming, or snow or ice is present, it's best to be safe and prepared. Part of the road to Tara is gravel/dirt, and there is a paved, steep, final descent to the cabin. Paved area can get icy, as temps dip. Sand, ice melt, snow shovel on hand. Nevada City, a 12-15 minute drive away, has great shopping, and a variety of excellent eateries, from upscale fare to informal dining. The town also features live theater and music, bookstores, outdoor cafes and art galleries. It is well worth a visit to take a walking tour of this historic and charming Gold Rush town, have a bite to eat, and perhaps have a wine tasting at our many local winery shops. Grass Valley, like Nevada City, has many buildings dating back 100+ years, and is just a 18-20 minute drive from Tara. There are charming antique shops, restaurants, wine shops, the old Holbrooke Hotel, a movie theatre and two Cornish Pastie establishments, serving the favorite of gold miners long ago. We worked with a well loved Bay Area interior architect to make it beautiful and contemporary for our family and our guests. The house is passively heated and cooled so it stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Everything from the terra cotta floor tiles in the Great Room and Kitchen to the handmade ceramic sinks in the Bathrooms and Kitchen were carefully selected. The landscape design is masterful and mature. A care taker is available should you find the need something, or simply want some local tips on sites to see. They are part of the family, and live on a separated part of the property at the other side of the creek. Geronimo cabin is extraordinary 2-bedroom, 600-square foot log cabin. If this cabin is reserved we have other more rustic, simpler cabins one called Trinity and our newest Shamballa Cabin. All cabins have wood stoves for winter use with potential snows, typically foreseeable, and cool mornings during spring and fall. Comes Stacked with ample firewood stacked inside. A simple kitchen comes fully stocked with a sink and cold and hot water. A stainless steel min-fridge come in handy during the long hot summers. It does not have an indoor bathroom but close by is a clean 2 stall outhouse and near by are flush toilets and showers in the main house but 150 feet away. We now have by the 3 cabins a shared group picnic area with a large charcoal BBQ, a massive 16 foot slab table, a fire pit and misc. chairs for family gathering and group workshops. We allow one armful of campfire wood but thereafter we charge $10. per load via the honor system. Two other cabins are now open and near by, one called Shamballa cabin is a hand crafted log post and beam structure and Trinity cabin a simple and rustic hand crafted unit. I stayed in the winter and our host Adam had a fire set up inside the cabin hours before we got there providing a warm cabin upon our arrival. The cabin was absolutely beautiful inside and out. The cabin I stayed in was a two bedroom with a beautiful living room and kitchen plus a fireplace inside. The cabin had everything I needed and more. The area is stunning as well. The second I arrived I knew I made a good decision choosing these cabins. It is very peaceful and secluded. Away from main road/populated areas I feel as if I could not have found a more peaceful campground for my weekend. There is so much hiking trails available that I was not able to explore them all on my 3 day stay. The trails all have beautiful views, with many hidden meadows along the way. I came there not knowing if I was going to stay more than one night, and Adam was accommodating enough to let me decide the next morning if I would stay another night, although once I saw the place I knew I would stay more than one night. With the beautiful cabins, the bountiful trails and wildlife, and a very reasonable price, I will definitely be coming back as often as possible and recommending to everyone I can. -Kevin Quigley I stayed at Geronimo Pole Cabins New Year's Eve weekend and will definitely be back. The cabin was not only beautiful but had everything we needed in it. Adam supplied us with linens for the bed, pots, pans, utensils and a fire pit for hanging out outside. His property is absolutely stunning. With so many trails you could spend the whole day outside. He recommends trails to take and gives you direction. There is a beautiful meadow where my boyfriend and I set up a hammock and relaxed for a while. We were lucky enough to get a full moon that night which lit up the whole outdoors, it was gorgeous. Adam is very accommodating, he tells you to come to him for anything you need and even offers a separate bathroom in his home for guests apart from the outhouse by the cabin. There are also stores nearby if you wanted to pick up any food or snacks you want during your stay. I will recommend this place to all my friends and family, there was nothing disappointing about it. It has a simple 'glamping style kitchen' fully stacked and functional . We now have located in front of the 3 cabins a shared group picnic area with a large charcoal BBQ, a massive 16 foot slab table, a fire pit and misc. chairs for family gathering and group workshops. Located in the Sierra Mountains approx. 2 hours from Sacramento and 3-4 hours from San Francisco at the 4000 foot elevation winters can be wet with potential snows of over 3 feet. Add an hour or so if traffic is heavy. It has a wood stove for winter use with potential snows, typically foreseeable, and cool mornings during spring and fall. Comes Stacked with ample firewood stacked inside. The kitchen is equipped with small counter kitchen featuring a stainless mini- refrigerator, 2 burner propane camp stove, cookware, dishes, silver ware, and various other kitchen items. Radiance Cabin (sleeps 2-9) is the newest and largest custom-built cabin on our 200-acre developing eco-preserve in the heart of the Sierra Nevadas. With three bedrooms and a pull-out futon in the large main room, full kitchen, 800-square foot redwood deck, and developed spring 150 yards from the cabin, Radiance Cabin is the ideal rustic mountain retreat space for families and groups seeking peace, quiet, and a chance to unplug and unwind in the forest. PLEASE NOTE: At this time Radiance Cabin does not have its own bathroom inside the cabin; however there is a private, clean outhouse a short walk away. There is also a guest bathroom at the main house (5 minutes' walk or a short drive away) with a hot shower, sink, and flush toilet. Electricity in the cabin is via solar generator system.. We also have 4 battery-powered lanterns inside the cabin that will sufficiently light the space and bedrooms in the evening for backup if needed. The kitchen in Radiance Cabin is equipped with a large propane refrigerator, 6-burner gas stove and oven, large slab countertop and sink, dining table and chairs, and numerous cookware and utensils. Trinity cabin is elegant in its simplicity. It measures, 16 x 20 and is a sweet studio cabin that offers more privacy as it's the last in the row of 3 cabins. Majestic covered porches on the front and back invite relaxing amongst the trees . Walking this 200 acre eco-preserve is exhilarating and harmonizing to body, mind and spirit. If Trinity Cabin has a 2 nite minimum and if reserved kindly check our more spacious cabin- Geronimo cabin or Shamballa Cabin or our newest Serenity Cabin which offers real privacy. The kitchen is equipped with small refrigerator, 2 burner propane camp stove, cookware, dishes, silver ware for 4, and minimal other kitchen items. It has a simple 'Glamping style' kitchen with water in a large 5 gallon jug with a spigot. a water hose right outside the front door. Queen LOG BED IS INSTALLED. Photos soon. Weber grill is available , you bring the charcoal! The woodstove provides ample heat and there are wide windows that offer tree views. There is a small bridge nearby across a seasonal creek that runs all winter and spring. Walk 50 feet and there is grassy meadow surrounded by both young and growth trees. This meadow is also seen from the front porch. Plan on cozy fire time, reconnecting, hiking, star gazing, journaling, serenading birds and possible magical encounters. This land of 200 acres is inviting, private, and resides on a large developing Retreat space. We have an extensive trail system here which is partially in place with marked trails. A trail map is in development. Surrounded by thousands of areas of the Tahoe National Forest. A mere 5 miles from Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park with miles of further hiking. WIFI is available outside in front of some cabins which works from approx. 7 am to 10 pm and then we shut the system off. There are WIFI stations available closer to the source by the main house which many use as well.

Look–a-Bird Farm is a six-acre homestead and artist’s residence, 10 minutes from Nevada City and less than 20 minutes from the popular Yuba River swimming areas. Our freshly remodeled guest cottage is a welcoming mix of rustic High Sierra style and sophisticated modern comforts! It adds up to a romantic getaway for couples, an exciting farm adventure for families, or a working retreat for writers, artists and other professionals. The Great Room in this 900-square-ft cottage includes a full gourmet kitchen and a dining area with a six-person table. The living area has plenty of comfortable seating, including a new queen-size pull-out sofa. The Great Room opens onto a large, private outdoor deck with relaxing lounges and a filtered view through the forest. The kitchen has a gas range, large island, dishwasher, microwave, etc. There is a coffee machine, plus press-pot and pour-over supplies. There is also a stacking washer-dryer. The separate bedroom has a comfy king-size bed with natural cotton bedding, and black-out Roman shades. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with organic cotton towels. The kitchen, laundry and bath are supplied with natural, fragrance-free products for your use. Artwork by owner Nancy Mintz is on display throughout the cottage. There is also a useful library of local maps and guidebooks, plus a good selection of general literature. There is wifi, but no television. Cell reception is usually good. There is lovely hiking (birding, mushrooming, star-gazing, etc) right from the doorstep. Gold-panning tools, beach towels, and other outdoor equipment are available to use by prior arrangement. The cottage is completely separate from the main house. There is a circular driveway with ample parking for vehicles of any size. Shared space includes a sculpture garden with outdoor furniture and a hammock. There is also a fire pit, available for use during times of low fire danger. Fresh eggs and organic vegetables are available from the garden, depending on the season. NOTE: Though Airport Road is well-paved, the last half-mile is not plowed in winter. Snow at this altitude (3000’) is modest, however, and most vehicles have no trouble. There is usually someone present on the property, and we are always available to answer questions. Otherwise, you will enjoy plenty of privacy! Please note that this is an active farm and artist’s residence. While it is usually very peaceful (especially at night) there can be a lot activity during the day. This might include some vocalizing by farm animals vocalizing (there’s no rooster though!). The artist occasionally uses power tools in her studio (about 50 yards distant), and the sounds of farming or forest work may also be heard, depending on the season.

There’s a walk along the old Rough and Ready ditch, a woodsy foray downslope from the ditch, remnants of the Providence Mine, and an easy connection by foot or bicycle to Nevada City. Guest access The cottage is conveniently located on a quiet street with separate driveway. The front door is opened using a unique access code that will be provided to you the day of arrival. The cottage is nestled in natural, non-manicured, outdoor surroundings with a private gravel driveway and off-street parking. If we know you are arriving after dark, we will leave lights on for you as there are no street lights on our end of the street. The cottage is the first house on the right just after the row of mailboxes, also on the right. Lovingly restored to its present Victorian splendor and completed updated in 2004, it is now a perfect little Gothic Victorian gem from which to explore all that Nevada City and the environs have to offer. A short drive will bring you to the wonders of the Sierra foothills and the gold rush era. Beautiful scenery, pristine forests, river crossings with amazing swimming spots, hiking trails, and historic gold mining towns, some still with residents, some with only the local ghosts roaming the streets. Skiing is only an hour or so away, up Interstate 80 towards Truckee. If you want a more temperate climate to stay in and not have to go too far to ski, Nevada City is the perfect spot. If golf is your passion, there are three championship golf courses in Grass Valley and Auburn, just a short drive from the Inn. This beautiful 150-year-old Historic Victorian called The Hatfield House is located downtown Nevada City 1/2 block away from restaurants, bars, theatre, shopping & all the activities Nevada City has to offer. It is attached to my Day Spa, Salon & Boutique called Body Essence which a 10% discount is available for spa services for those who book the suite. It is a private unit with a Jack & Jill bathroom between the rooms with a small kitchenette & a porch. The unit has 1 queen bed & the extra room has a sleeper sofa which I add an extra foam mattress to for extra comfort. The rooms have a private entrance & share a bathroom. I send out the door code & check-in information by 3 pm on the day of arrival. Guests have access to the backyard & front yard. There is only street parking available and generally a spot next to the unit.
